The Nair Service Society (NSS) has lashed out at those, including politicians, who allegedly try to cast aspersions on the organisation by spreading canards.
In the editorial of the latest edition of its mouthpiece Service, the NSS has asserted that it had never obtained undue benefits from any of the State governments.
“If they are pointing to the regularisation of land granted on lease for starting educational institutions, one should keep in mind that the transfer of ownership followed payment of the market price and it was not just the NSS, but other community organisations too had benefited from the move. Moreover, this was done during the tenure of both the LDF and the UDF,” it said.
While noting that the previous UDF government accepted all legitimate demands raised by the NSS, except reservation for the economically backward sections, it also held that the current government was just following in the footsteps of its predecessor.
