Ahmedabad: Weather may freeze weekend plans

AHMEDABAD: The India Meteorological Department has warned of a spell of chill till Sunday. The minimum temperatures are expected to drop. However, the temperatures are expected to rise from Monday onwards.
IMD said that northerly to north-easterly winds are prevailing at lower levels over the region which is expected to lower the minimum temperature.
Cold wave conditions very likely to prevail at isolated pockets in the districts of south Gujarat region namely Vadodara, Valsad and in Bhavnagar and Kutch in Saurashtra-Kutch.
The minimum temperature on Friday in the city was recorded at 12.8 C. The lowest temperature in the state was recorded in Mahuva at 9.9 C.
Officials in the weather department said the all-time low in February month in the state was 2.2 degree, recorded on February 6, 1920. The lowest minimum temperature recorded in the last 10 years was 5.2 degree on February 9, 2012. IMD officials said that state capital Gandhinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 13.8 degrees. tnn
