Interim budget 2019 was presented today, and finance minister Piyush Goyal announced that Modi government is going to set up an All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Haryana. This would be 22nd AIIMS which will be set up in the country. The announcement was made while presenting the budget in Lok Sabha just before 2019 elections.
While presenting the Budget speech, Piyush Goyal said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre launched the world’s largest healthcare programme – Ayushman Bharat.
“Ayushman Bharat the world’s largest healthcare programme was launched to provide medical care to almost 50 crore people, resulting in 3,000 crore savings by poor families,” Piyush Goyal said.
“Twenty-one AIIMS are currently operating or being established. Fourteen of these AIIMS have started after the BJP government came to power. 22nd AIIMS will be in Haryana.”
Currently, nine AIIMS are operational in the country, which are located across New Delhi, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur, Rishikesh, Mangalagiri and Nagpur. The future campuses will be set up across Raebareli, Gorakhpur, Kalyani, Bhatinda, Changsari, Vijay Pur, Awantipora, Bilaspur, Madurai, Darbhanga, Deoghar, Rajkot and Hyderabad (excluding the latest proposition in Haryana), in different phases.
