PANCHKULA: The case in which a person was shot, and another jumped from the first floor of an SCO in Sector 20, Panchkula, has taken a U-turn.
The victims in their statements told Panchkula police that and unidentified persons came when they were playing cards with friends and committed dacoity at the venue. Earlier, the cops suspected that a brawl between gamblers had turned violent, leading to the incident.
“Vinod Kumar of Sector-20, who works as a financer and property dealer, told us that he had rented SCO 392 in Sector 20 to run his business. On Wednesday evening, when he was playing cards with his friends at his office, 8 to 10 persons entered with bags and pistols. They then asked them to give gold chains, gold rings and cash,” cops said, they were told.
“When we denied giving any money, the accused fired at Manoj and Deepak. Manoj was hit on his thigh and Deepak on head. In fear of getting killed, Sunny jumped from the first floor of the building. The accused person also thrashed us and looted our gold chains, gold rings and fled the spot firing,” Vinod said and added that we would be able to identify the persons.
Cops based on his statement have registered a case under Section 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery), 395 (punishment for dacoity) and 397 (robbery, or dacoity, with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 25-54-59 of the Arms Act at Sector 20 police station against unidentified persons.
“Deepak is critical. We are yet to take Manoj’s statement. As soon as doctors will declare them fit, my team will take their statements and continue the investigation,” said investigation officer inspector Ajay Disodiya.
Meanwhile, the cops are scanning videos of CCTV cameras installed at nearby places.
