The Justice A. Arumughaswamy Commission has summoned 10 doctors and a technician from Apollo Hospitals for re-examination by Sasikala’s counsel on February 5 and 6.
Meanwhile, a fresh date has not been fixed for deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam’s deposition, an official at the Commission confirmed to The Hindu.
Earlier, a source had claimed that Mr. Panneerselvam could depose on February 1. But the Commission will reconvene only on February 5 for the re-examination of the doctors, the official added.
On February 5, doctors including V.L. Arul Selvan, Ravichandran, Rama Gopalakrishnan, Sajjan K. Hegde and Meenakshi Sundaram have been summoned.
Kamesh, a technician at the private hospital has also been asked to depose on the same day. On February 6, five doctors — Babu Manohar, Sivagnana Sundaram, Ramakrishnan, T. Sundar and K. Madhan Kumar — have been summoned. Most of these doctors have already deposed and some have been cross-examined as well.
They have been summoned to be re-examined by Sasikala’s counsel Raja Senthoor Pandian. However, it is not clear whether the doctors will appear at the Commission as Apollo Hospitals had submitted that its doctors will not present their testimonies till a medical board was formed.
Demand rejected
With Justice Arumughaswamy rejecting the demand for the medical board, Apollo is yet to decide whether the doctors will depose or not.
The hospital had also filed an affidavit at the Madras High Court challenging the order of the Commission, which was subsequently withdrawn.
