The doctor has been booked under section 304-A (causing death due to negligence) of IPC. “We are yet to arrest him,” assistant inspector of Hinjewadi police Anand Pagare told TOI.
Pagare, the complainant, said that on September 24, the girl’s father had brought her to the clinic with high fever. After examining her, the doctor administered injection on the right side of her waist.
Following which the girl developed black spots and boils on her waist, back and on her right thigh. “She was taken to a private hospital at Narhe, where she died on September 26,” he said.
“The expert committee observed that the doctor had not administered the injection appropriately nor did he follow pre-administration protocol, including cleaning the site of injection with spirit. Besides, the doctor showed lax attitude in handling the complications following administration of the injection,” said a doctor from Sassoon hospital.
Ajay Taware, medical superintendent, Sassoon General Hospital said, “We received the police letter for probing medical negligence in the case on February 15, 2018. We submitted our report on November 20, 2018.” The doctor, who administered the injection to the girl, could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
