Update: Investigation after principal drags pupil

A principal in Melbourne's west has been stood down after video footage emerged of him dragging a primary school aged pupil along the ground. The education department has launched an investigation. Read more here

Pakenham car fire cleared

All lanes on the Princes Freeway at Pakenham near the Koo Wee Rup exit are open again after an earlier car fire caused delays.

Dog bites cop

A police officer has been bitten by one of his canine colleagues.

Police said a male constable sustained a small bite while being assisted by the dog squad in searching three people in an Ashwood street just before midnight on Thursday. 

He was taken to hospital and has since been released.

Odd spot

The man who founded Sweden's Museum of Failure has been declared bankrupt. Samuel West's former business partners reported him for failing to pay for legal fees of 450,000 kronor ($68,000). "I'm up s--t creek," Mr West said. The museum displays 100 of the weirdest flop products in business history. 

Car on fire in Pakenham

There's some drama on the Princes Freeway at Pakenham this morning as a car has caught fire. 

It has closed the left-hand lane inbound before the Koo Wee Rup exit and is causing delays. Emergency services are there.
