Salaries dispensed to doctors who are not on pay rolls

Lok Nayak Hospital authorities have given a complaint to the Delhi Police after suspecting a salary scam of over ₹1 crore. Police have registered an FIR and are probing into the matter.

A senior officer privy to the case said they received a complaint two days ago stating that the hospital has been dispensing salaries to doctors, who have not been on their pay rolls, and the money has been transferred to 10 accounts without clearance from senior doctors.

Clerk’s role suspected

The complaint said the authorities suspect the role of a senior clerk, who was in-charge of distributing salaries, in the scam.

During an internal audit, the authorities found a surge in the salary expense in the books. Later, they found that the money was being transferred to fictitious accounts through e-transfer between 2013 and 14. The accounts to which the money, about a lakh in each account, was transferred to only had first names and designations as junior or senior resident doctors, said the complaint.

Police have registered a case under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code and are also scanning the CCTV footages of the accounts section to zero in on the culprit.
