‘BJP MPs are extending benefits of scheme to their parliamentary constituents’

Accusing the Delhi government of continuing to stall the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat insurance scheme in the Capital, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari said BJP MPs have begun extending the benefits of the scheme to their parliamentary constituents.

Mr. Tiwari accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of depriving “lakhs of families” from getting financial assistance up to ₹5 lakh for surgical operations under the scheme.

“Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has prevented the people of Delhi from getting the assistance of ₹5 lakh from the Centre, but he could not stop Prime Minister Narendra Modi from reaching out to these weaker sections and providing financial assistance. All the BJP MPs are helping those who are financially incapable of getting treatment for serious diseases,” the North-East Delhi MP claimed in a statement.

According to Mr. Tiwari, in his Parliamentary constituency alone, 152 people had applied for financial assistance from the relief fund for their treatment from May 1, 2014 till January 17, 2019 which were, he said, forwarded to the Prime Minister for consideration.

The Delhi BJP chief further accused Mr. Kejriwal of having “forgotten the interests of the common man” for his personal ambition, while the Centre was reaching out to “every house of the weaker section” and providing financial assistance from the PM relief fund.

“As much as ₹32,13,08,600 were granted from the PM relief fund, out of which ₹21,22,05,450 have been paid to the people concerned,” Mr. Tiwari claimed.

“Crores of people are getting benefits but the Chief Minister of Delhi has not implemented this insurance scheme... and deprived lakhs of families from getting assistance of ₹5 lakh for 1,250 surgical operations,” he alleged.
