To give a better life to his three children and three siblings, Saiful Haq (27) of Murshidabad in West Bengal, came to Hyderabad with a group of construction workers for earning money.

Milan Sheik (20) from the same district also came to the city hoping to send money to his elderly parents and seven young siblings, who depend on his earnings.

Two of the five persons who died after falling from the 10th floor of an under construction building, taken up by the State government at Rampally village in Keesara mandal were sole breadwinners, said their co-workers.

Speaking to The Hindu, Nasruddin, a construction labourer from West Bengal said that the duo, who used to reside in accommodation on the construction premises, were working hard to fulfil their family requirements. “They were also saving money for the marriages of their younger sisters and brothers back home,” he said. each one used to earn about ₹ 6,000 to ₹ 7,000 per month, and barely visited their native places to save money and send it to their families, the co-workers, who tried to rescue the duo said.

“They were like my brothers and it is hard to believe that they are no more. How can I face their family members now,” Mr Nasruddin said.

Saiful Haq and Milan Sheik along with three other men died after the iron platform on which they were standing to remove the side metal supporter collapsed. Their bodies, which were shifted to Gandhi hospital morgue for preservation, will be handed over to their family members after conducting autopsy.
