DA of 9.61 lakh Gujarat employees, pensioners raised by 2%

GANDHINAGAR: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Vijay Rupani government has announced an increase in the dearness allowance (DA) of more than 9.61 lakh government employees and pensioners by 2%, with retrospective effect from July 1, 2018. This decision was pending for a long time.


Deputy CM and government spokesman Nitin Patel said, "With this, DA has been increased from 7% to 9%. The increased salary will be paid from February along with arrears from July last year. This decision will cost the exchequer an additional Rs 771 crore. It follows a similar one by the Union government earlier. Patel said 9.61 lakh employees and pensioners would gain. Total arrears from July will be paid in one go with the February salary."
