5th edition of UNWTO World Forum on gastronomy tourism to be held in Spain

The ministry of industry, commerce and tourism of Spain , the Basque government is supporting the event along with the provincial council of Gipuzkoa and the city of San Sebastian.

 

 

2019 will be UNWTO Year of Education, Skills and Jobs which is in sync with the Sustainable Development Goals.

 

 

The main focus this year will be job creation and promotion of entrepreneurship.

 

 

 

Minister of tourism,  representatives from national and local tourism administrations, chefs, entrepreneurs, academia and related stakeholders from tourism and gastronomy will grace the occasion at the forum. They will discuss the latest trends and share experiences.

 

 

 

UNWTO secretary general Zurab Pololikashvili said that tourism is a huge source of employment and its multiplier effect has a knock-on effect on other sectors like gastronomy and its huge value chain involving several sectors.

 

 

During the forum a policy framework for the development of gastronomy tourism and its capacity to create jobs, promote entrepreneurship  and future skills will be discussed. There will also be sessions on ways to support the small and medium-sized entrepreneurship in the industry.

 

 

All the participants will get a chance to immerse, interact and share ideas and the panel presentations will be completed by the working sessions.
