Four-year-old girl abducted, raped in Sikar; 1 arrested

JAIPUR: A 28-year-old man abducted and raped a four-year-old girl on the pretext of buying her candy at Khatushyam Ji town in Sikar district late on Wednesday evening. Both the accused and the rape survivor’s family are known to each other and are natives of Kutch region in Gujarat and were into selling utensils. The condition of the girl was critical and she was rushed to the JK Lon hospital where she would be undergoing a surgery. The accused in the case has also been arrested by the police.

According to the police the accused identified as Karan alias Kulu is an orphan and came to Khatushyamji with a group of people who hail from Kutch region of Gujarat and are into selling utensils.

“The accused took the girl while she was playing along with her sisters on Wednesday evening. When the girl did not return till 10pm the family launched a massive hunt for her and also informed us. The girl was found at a funeral ground and was injured. Prima facie it appeared to be a clear case of rape. The girl was immediately rushed to JK Lon hospital in Jaipur,” said Surendra Kumar Saini, station house officer, Khatushyamji police station on Thursday.

He added that soon after the case came to the notice of the police searches were conducted to nab the accused. “Finally during the early hours of Thursday the accused was arrested on the charges of abduction and rape,” Saini added.

Police have registered the case under appropriate sections of POCSO Act and Indian Penal Code (IPC).

After the arrest the police were eying on filing the chargesheet within a week. “Only thing left for us is the identification of accused by the girl. After completing it we will file the chargesheet and will take this on priority basis,” he added.

Doctors attending to the girl stated that she was out of danger and her vitals were normal. “Only a surgery needs to be done,” said a doctor at JK Lon hospital.
