During the third day of activities at the 39th Tourism Fair of Madrid, FITUR 2019, the Secretary of Tourism of Quintana Roo Marisol Vanegas Perez announced that the promotion agency created in the administration of Governor Carlos Joaquín in December 2017, will be a part of the travel council of the economically strongest private sector in the world.
The WTTC is the only global organization bringing together the big names in the travel and tourism sector, including airlines, hotels, cruises, car rental companies, travel agencies, tour operators, global distribution systems and transnational technology companies specialized in internet-related services and products serving the travel and lodging industries.
At a press conference at FITUR, the Secretary of Tourism Marisol Vanegas, said that now the state of Quintana Roo will be part of a select group that integrates only three tourism promotion councils in the world: the BCD USA, California and New York.
The Quintana Roo delegation also met with Jaime Alberto Cabal, assistant general secretary of the UNWTO and Alejandro Varela, regional director for the Americas of the World Tourism Organization at FITUR.
