Search for Malpe missing boat continues

Search operations for the fishing boat Suvarna Tribhuja from Malpe, which went missing off the Goa coast on December 15, 2018, with seven fishermen onboard, are continuing.

According to sources in the Police Department here, a naval ship with equipment for getting three-dimensional images from under the sea is conducting the search.

Suvarna Tribhuja left the Malpe fisheries harbour on December 13, 2018, with six other fishing boats. The other fishing boats noticed the absence of Suvarna Tribhuja and searched for it on December 15, but to no avail. A missing boat complaint was lodged at Malpe police station on December 22.

While two fishermen who were onboard Suvarna Tribhuja are from Udupi, the remaining five are from Uttara Kannada. The missing fishermen from Udupi are Chandrashekhar Kotian, 40, owner and captain of the boat, and Damodar Salian, 40, while the ones from Uttara Kannada are Laxman, 45, Sathisha, 35, Harish, 28, Ramesh, 30, and Ravi, 27.
