LUCKNOW: A brick kiln owner was thrashed and his nephew shot at over a land dispute at Pahadpur village in Banthara police station area on Thursday.

Sujeet Singh, a resident of Banthra, runs a brick kiln in the locality and had a rivalry with one Pawan Kriplani, who is also in the same business. Around noon, Sujeet’s nephew Dilip Singh was at his uncle’s brick kiln, when he saw one Rajendra Singh, a supporter of Pawan, digging the road with an excavator machine.

He called Sujeet and tried to stop the work. This snowballed into a verbal spat and Pawan also reached the spot. Soon, Pawan was joined by another aide Mohan. During the spat, Rajendra allegedly opened fire at Dilip.

SHO Banthara Vijay Sen Singh said Dilip sustained bullet injuries in his stomach and was rushed to a hospital. Police have registered a case of murderous assault against Pawan, Mohan and Rajendra.

Explaining the cause behind the bloody brawl, SHO Banthra said the brick kiln is located at Jahanbad village, and Sujeet and Pawan are at loggerheads over a land on which a road has been constructed by the state government for vehicular movement. “Sujeet alleged that Pawan was getting the road dug with an intention to grab the land for his personal use,” he added. He said that the team has been formed to launch raids to nab prime accused Rajendra, Pawan and Mohan.
