Mumbai: Churchgate-Dadar special buses in absence of trains during Saturday rail block

MUMBAI: Since there will be an 11-hour megablock for demolition of Delisle Road bridge at Lower Parel on Saturday night and which will go on till Sunday morning, the BEST buses will come to the rescue of those stranded due to no suburban trains plying between Churchgate and Dadar during the block period.
Said BEST spokesperson B A Zodage : "We are deploying six special buses, three from Backbay and three more from Worli depot, to ferry passengers who will be inconvenienced due to the rail block."
The buses will ply between Churchgate and Dadar stations, and will cover all the stations en route -- including Marine Lines, Charni Road, Grant Road, Mumbai Central, Mahalaxmi, Lower Parel and Prabhadevi. "The special bus services will commence from 9.30pm on Saturday and will go on till 1.25am. Subsequently, our special buses will ply from 3.30am to 10am on Sunday to cater to the rush of commuters who will depend on them for transport," Zodage stated.
Western Railway chief spokesperson Ravinder Bhakar said that during the block from 10pm on Saturday to 9am on Sinday, all fast trains will run between Dadar and Virar/Dahanu Road station and all slow services will run between Bandra and Borivali / Bhayandar / Virar only. "Hence, there will be no fast train service between Churchgate and Dadar and and no slow trains between Churchgate and Bandra stations," he added.
