Jind bypoll result: Randeep Surjewala trails behind

GURUGRAM: In a major setback for the Congress party ahead of Lok Sabha elections this year, party's candidate Randeep Surjewala for bypoll on Haryana's Jind assembly seat was trailing after the round-2 of counting of votes.
Surjewala, who is a sitting MLA from Kaithal constituency, was at third position behind Digvijay Singh Chautala of Jannayak Janata Party's (JJP) and BJP's Krishan Middha.

A total of 21 candidates, including two women, had contested the bypoll on January 28.
A total of 75.77 per cent voter turnout was reported in the by-election.
The bypoll is also crucial for the newly-floated Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), which was formed after a split in INLD.
The by-election on Jind seat was necessitated after the death of INLD MLA Hari Chan Middha. He had represented Jind twice.
