The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Karimnagar district, rolled out 4G mobile data services in the newly-formed Peddapalli district headquarters on Thursday, a first in Telangana State.
BSNL Karimnagar general manager P. Sudhakara Rao formally launched the 4G services by making a video call to BSNL Telangana telecom circle chief general manager (CGM) V. Sundar in Hyderabad.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sudhakara Rao said the existing BSNL mobile data network in Peddapalli has been upgraded to 4G by adding three 4G towers in the town enhancing the data speed to 30 Mbps. “This is the first town to have 4G mobile services commercially in BSNL Telangana circle,” he said and added that they could launch 4G services in the town as over 600 customers have shifted to 4G SIM provided to them free of cost.
He also appealed to the existing BSNL customers to change their 3G SIM to 4G, which are being provided free of cost at BSNL offices.
They would soon launch 4G services in Sircilla, Jagtial, Metpally, Korutla, Dharmapuri, Kondagattu, Vemulawada and Karimnagar in the integrated Karimnagar district by March 31 this year.
“BSNL is considering providing 4G services in all the 46 major towns in the State, except Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts, by March 31 this year,” Mr. Sudhakara Rao said.
DGMs Pitchaiah and Ajay were also present. On the occasion, the BSNL authorities distributed 4G SIM cards to their customers.
