Regional Commissioner and Hyderabad Karnataka Regional Development Board (HKRDB) Secretary Subodh Yadav directed the officials in the Department of Public Instruction to finalise the proposal for supplying science kits to 5,517 higher primary and high schools in the six districts of Hyderabad Karnataka region — Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal and Ballari.
Presiding over a meeting at the HKRDB Conference Hall here on Tuesday, Mr. Yadav said that it was decided to provide one kit for eight students studying in Classes VI and X on the basis of “learn-by-doing” principle. “You need to finalise what all the material that a kit should have for effective learning of science and mathematics subjects. You should also see whether we need to provide kits for Class VI and Class VII students and Class VIII, Class IX and Class X students. There is some material in the science kit that we may have to resupply after they are exhausted. You need to consult the Directorate of Education before finalising the project and floating the tender,” Mr. Yadav said.
Mr. Yadav directed the officers to make preparations for starting smart classes in 1,130 schools in the region.
