BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd.) has provided audience gallery with ceiling for the Kambala Stadium at Miyar village near Karkala in Udupi district under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The newly constructed audience gallery was formally handed over by B.K.R. Patnaik, Additional General Manager (HR), BHEL-ISG, Bengaluru, to Priyanka Mary Francis, Deputy Commissioner, at the District Offices Complex here on Wednesday, in the presence of the office-bearers of Lava Kusha Kambala Committee.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Patnaik highlighted the various CSR initiatives undertaken by BHEL. Ms. Francis lauded BHEL for providing the gallery.
Earlier, Mr. Patnaik also unveiled the plaque at the newly constructed audience gallery.
The audience gallery was constructed under a bipartite agreement between BHEL and the Deputy Commissioner of Udupi for implementing this CSR project. Accordingly, financial support of ₹25 lakh was provided by BHEL for its construction. The Udupi Nirmithi Kendra constructed the gallery. J. John Ambrose, DGM (HR) and CSR Coordinator, BHEL-ISG, hoped that this CSR initiative would boost the local sport of Kambala and promote tourism.
Arun Kumar, project director, Nirmiti Kendra, and Sachin Kumar, project engineer, were present.
