Costlier entry to new museums at Red Fort

NEW DELHI: The newly inaugurated museums at Red Fort open their doors for the public on Friday, but for a higher fee. According to a notification by Archaeological Survey of India, while Indians and visitors from SAARC countries will have to pay Rs 30 in cash or Rs 21 for cashless payment, other foreigners will be charged Rs 350 or Rs 320.
The fort’s old museums, which were located in Naubat Khana and Mumtaz Mahal, had Rs 5 as the entry fee.
The new museums, inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on January 23, are located in the British barracks. The museum at barrack 1 is on First War of Indian Independence 1857, B2 on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, and B3 on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and the INA movement, while B4 is a collaboration between ASI and Delhi Art Gallery.
Azaadi ke Deewane, a museum dedicated to the unknown faces of India’s freedom struggle, is expected to open in a month.
