Nagpur: Even when the city is shivering with all-time low temperatures, Thursday evening saw music connoisseurs bee-lining towards Scientific Society Hall in Laxmi Nagar to experience the warmth of yesteryear’s songs presented in Nishad Music Academy’s ‘Surile Sawaal aur Sunhare Jawab’, a uniquely conceptualized music gala where super hit songs in question-answer format were performed.
The concert was arranged by Sanjay Gade and Anup Huddar and compered by Shweta Shelgaonkar.
Evening kicked off on romantic tunes of ‘Teri aankhon ke siwa duniye mein’ and continued on with songs like ‘Tune o rangeele kaisa jaadu kiya’, ‘Ye kya hua, kaise hua’, ‘Sochenge tumhein pyar’ and ‘Kya dekhte ho’. The singers presented a show to the best of their amateur capabilities and managed to pull off a full house of audience.
‘Akele akele kahan ja rahe ho’ by singer Ritesh Kulsange seemed to be the listener’s favourite for the evening and garnered thunderous calls for an encore. A choir sang ‘Pyar humein kis mod pe le aya’ and recreated the iconic confusion of this song originally starring Amitabh Bachchan. ‘Bheegi bheegi raaton mein’, ‘Pucho na yaar kya hua’, ‘Yun hi tum mujhse pyar karti ho’ and ‘Ye kahan aa gaye hum’ were other songs that left a mark.
As a welcome break and a pleasant surprise, comedian Amol Aidlabadkar presented a comic gig and left the audience in splits. He also sang two songs ‘Chhoo kar mere mann ko’ and ‘Kajra mohobbat wala’ as a part of his act and was appreciably good.
Singers for the evening were Anup Huddar, Shraddha Joshi, Parijat Kalikar, Dhananjay Gade, Niketa Joshi and Ritesh Kulsange, while Manoj Vishwakarma, Ajit Bhalerao, Kamlesh Sonawne, Mahendra Watulkar and Sameer Sirsikar played the instruments. Shraddha Joshi stood out in all her performances as a singer and was widely appreciated by the audience. The texture of her voice and notes were in perfect harmony with the mood.
