Khanna police recovers 10kg of silver ornaments from car; detains owner

LUDHIANA: Khanna police on Thursday detained a person after ten kilograms silver jewelry was recovered from his car at GT road on Doraha. He was identified as Kamal Verma of Shri Guru Harkrishan Nagar on Malerkotla Road in Khanna.

Giving details, SSP Khanna, Dhruv Dahiya said that a police party was checking the suspected vehicles and persons at Hi-Tech checkpost on G.T. Road in Doraha. He added that while Checking, police party saw a Maruti Swift Car bearing registration PB-10-EV-9041 coming from Khanna side.


Police said that police Party stopped the car for checking. They added that the driver identified himself as Kamal Verma.


Police officials said that on checking the car, police recovered 10kg of silver ornaments. They added that the driver was unable to produce any document(s) validating the jewelry.


Police said that Kamal Verma along with recovered silver was handed over to Amit Goyal Excise Taxation Officer, Mobile wing, Mohali, for further investigation.
