The TDP government fed falsehood to the Governor and made him speak lies in the Assembly on Wednesday, YSRCP MLA Gadikota Srikanth Reddy said.

Addressing the media at the party’s headquarters at Lotus Pond in Hyderabad, Mr. Srikanth said the Governor’s speech would give anyone the impression that Andhra Pradesh was more developed than Sweden, Japan and Singapore.

The Governor began his speech with the famous quote of N.T. Rama Rao, “Society is a temple and people are Gods.” If society itself was as sacred as a temple, how sacred should the Legislative Assembly be, the MLA asked.

“But because of the actions of the TDP, the Assembly has lost all its sacredness and become like a demon’s den,” the MLA said.

Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao did not initiate action against the 23 YSRCP MLAs who were lured into the TDP by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, he charged.

Asked why no action was being taken against the defectors, the Speaker had been saying that he was waiting for the YSRCP MLAs to come to the Assembly, he said.

If the absence of YSRCP MLAs from the Assembly was an obstacle, how did the Speaker accept the resignations of the two MLAs, Ravela Kishore Babu and Akula Satyanarayana, he asked.

Corruption

The figures of growth in the State were implausible, but corruption was so huge that it was far more than the budget, he charged.

Unable to do anything worthwhile, the Chief Minister was trying to ape the ‘navaratnalu’ scheme announced by party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the MLA said.
