Shashi Tharoor takes a dig at cabinet dip at Kumbh, Smriti Irani hits back
TNN | Jan 31, 2019, 07:21 ISTNEW DELHI: Shashi Tharoor took a dig at the UP cabinet’s dip at Kumbh on Wednesday, prompting BJP to accuse him of insulting Hinduism and ridiculing the ongoing mega congregation of sadhus at Allahabad. “Ganga has to be kept clean and sins are also to be washed here. Everyone is naked in this Sangam. Hail mother Ganga,” Tharoor tweeted in Hindi with a picture of UP CM Yogi Adityanath and his colleagues at the Kumbh.
Union minister Smriti Irani likened Tharoor’s comment to a “religious slur” and said, ““It is appalling and he has done it with tactical support of Rahul Gandhi.”
