4 who robbed commuters at gunpoint on expressway held

GURUGRAM: An expressway robbers’ gang was busted on Tuesday after the crime unit of Bilaspur arrested four men who allegedly robbed commuters at gunpoint after offering them a lift. Two country-made pistols, cartridges and a WagonR was recovered from their possession.

According to the police, the Bilaspur crime unit received a tip-off about the accused, following which two teams were formed and four men were arrested on Tuesday night from different areas. “Deepak, Rahul, Rohit and Bhanu Pratap have been taken on police remand and during interrogation confessed to have committed three robberies in the past few months,” a police officer said.


Two FIRs under relevant sections of the Arms Act have been registered against the four at Kherki Daula police station.


“One among the four accused often posed as a cab driver and rest as passengers while committing the crimes. They revealed that they targeted people around Rajiv Chowk and IFFCO Chowk and have robbed three persons in the last one month. They revealed that they offered lift to people and on while driving towards the destination thrashed and robbed the victims at gunpoint. They also confessed to have withdrawn a total of Rs 1 lakh using the ATM cards of the three victims,” said sub-inspector Surender Singh, Bilaspur crime unit.


“With this arrest, we hope to solve a few more expressway robbery cases,” Singh added.
