Drill initiated again after 3 years
Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, Public Relations Minister PC Sharma reached Barkheda Nathu located at Bhopal Sehore road on Monday with Collector and Sports Director to inspect allotted land for international cricket stadium.
The minister also gave the necessary directions to the officials to prepare the International Cricket Stadium in Bhopal soon, so that Bhopal residents can get an opportunity to enjoy international cricket.
Three years have passed since the allocation of land fixed in Barkheda Nathu at Sehore Road for International cricket stadium. It took only four and a half year only in the allotment of 50.43 acres for the stadium. ADM Huzur said that land for the stadium in Barkheda Nathu has been recorded in Khasra. For this 20.42 hectare (approximately 50.43 acres) of land has been allocated.
Announced in 2011 to build stadium
On 30th March 2011, when India was playing against Pakistan in Mohali, then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had announced the construction of International Cricket Stadium in Bhopal. After this, the state government had reserved the land for it, which was sent for approval of the revenue department. Due to the permission from environment department and formalities in other departments, the issue of land was stuck.
Bhopal people have to go to Indore-Nagpur
There are international cricket stadiums in Indore and Gwalior in the state, but due to not being any stadium in Bhopal, people of Bhopal have to go to Indore, Gwalior and Nagpur to watch the match.
