Hold my Beer! Drinking on These Beaches in India Could Cost You

It’s hard to imagine a better place to crack open a beer than on a beach with your toes in the sand.????But if you have a cold one on the laidback beaches of Goa in India, you could be fined or end up behind bars!????Not bars like these.????I’m talking about bars at a jail cell.????The state is close to banning the consumption of alcohol in public places, including beaches, according to Conde Nast Traveller.????Same goes for cooking in public.????That means beach barbecues would be a thing of the past.????Don’t get burned without knowing the facts.????Lonely Planet says beach shacks would stay open, but you’d have to chug your beer there, and if the owner lets you take it away, they’d be fined, as well.????Think an initial fine around $28.????If you don’t pay, you could spend up to three months in jail.????If you’re drinking with a group, the fine will be close to $140.????You could buy all 99 bottles of beer on the wall for that kind of cash!????And no, you can’t pay in sand dollars.????Why are officials being total buzzkills?????They’ve had trouble with rowdy tourists breaking glass bottles and bothering the locals.????So follow the rules or end up with a punishment even worse than a hangover.
