CHENNAI: Practical examinations for Class XI Tamil Nadu state board students will begin on February 13. More than nine lakh students are expected to take up the annual exams scheduled to begin in April.
Schools are on the verge of finishing the prescribed syllabus and conducting revision tests. Government school teachers launched an indefinite strike on January 22 pressing for better pay and pension. More than 65% schools didn't function due to high rate of absenteeism among teachers.
With staffs from the Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations (TNDGE) joining protests on Monday, there was uncertainty among students and parents about conduct of practical exams on time.
Against this backdrop, TNDGE director D Vasundradevi released the schedule for Class XI practical exams. Accordingly, all the chief educational officers (CEOs) have been instructed to make necessary arrangements so that these exams can be conducted between February 13 and 22.
The TNDGE has already announced Class XII practical exams, which will be held between February 1 and 12.
