'That cheese could pass for a floor tile': Airline passenger left disappointed after being served a 'sad' chicken sandwich on a flight to Brisbane

  • Paul Carlin was inspired to share his own flight mishap after a Jetstar incident
  • He was travelling on an Emirates carrier from Dublin to Brisbane one day
  • The flight attendants gave him a Cajun chicken and cheese sandwich
  • But instead of being a delicious meal, there was less chicken on it than expected
  • It comes just days after a Jetstar passenger complained about their egg roll

An Australian airline passenger has been left disappointed after being served a 'sad' Cajun chicken and cheese sandwich that didn't meet his standards of a 'meal'.

Paul Carlin posted an image of a sandwich he received on an Emirates flight on Facebook after a similar incident with a Jetstar passenger went viral.

'Not as bad as my Emirates food on a flight from Dublin to Brisbane,' Mr Carlin, who is from Ireland, said about his snack.

'Yep, yours is definitely worse,' one person wrote beneath the image.

'Where's the chicken?' Asked another.

A third individual said: 'Lol, that's just sad'.

One of the more creative responses to the saga read: 'Looks like that cheese could pass for an outdoor floor tile mate.'

The sandwich itself was described as a 'multi-seed roll' - although there are barely any seeds in sight - and had a small slice of chicken on it.

One man argued that because Mr Carlin didn't have to pay extra for the meal - because it's included in Emirates in-flight service - that he shouldn't be complaining

'You didn't have to pay extra and you got more than one meal,' he said matter-of-factly.

But Mr Carlin begged to differ, stating: 'I wouldn't call this a meal. It wouldn't fill a hole in my tooth.'

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Emirates Airlines for comment.

Last week Howard Priestley slammed Jetstar for its take on an egg sandwich that cost him $9 on a flight from Bali to Perth.

'The thing was basically devoid of filling other than a perfunctory smear of margarine, a tiny bit of lettuce and a bit of egg,' Mr Priestley told The West Australian.

He said while his expectations had been low, the subpar sandwich was basically inedible and there couldn't possibly be one person who would consider it decent.

Mr Priestley took a photo of the sandwich, which shows a barely there smear of margarine along with a pinch of lettuce and scraping of egg on one side.

A Jetstar spokesman told Daily Mail Australia they were aware of the complaint and agreed the sandwich was not up to the usual standard of service on board.

He said Mr Priestly didn't mention the problem to crew on board, but after he complained, he received a $50 voucher, which is five times the price of the snack.

A Jetstar spokesperson acknowledged there were a couple of sandwiches from the same batch on Mr Priestley's particular flight that weren't up to standard
