Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held an interactive session with students, teachers, and parents from India and abroad in the second edition of 'Pariksha Pe Charcha'. During the discussion, Prime Minister Modi's response to one of the questions by a parent left the audience at Delhi's Talkatora Stadium in splits.

In response to a parent who was seeking the prime minister's advice regarding her child ignoring his studies to play online games, Modi said, "We should encourage our kids to adopt technology but we also need to have a discussion with them about to ensure they don't get controlled by technology."

But before his serious advice, PM Modi left the audience in splits with his PUBG reference.

At "Pariksha pe Charcha 2.0" where PM fielded questions from students, teachers and parents, Madhumita Sen Gupta, a mother, asked the prime minister, "My son is a student of class 9. He was very good in his studies and teachers praised him but now for some time he is too much inclined towards online gaming which is affecting his studies. I have tried to explain it to him how it is harming him but I have been unsuccessful. Please advise on how I should deal with this."

In response, Modi said, "Ye PUBG wala hai kya (Is this PUBG?)"

His PUBG reference made the stadium erupt into laughter. When the noise and cheers died down, the prime minister said, "This is a problem and also the solution. If we want that our children should stay away from technology, this is taking them back in time. We should encourage him about technology."

He added that parents should show interest on what use is are they making of that technology.

"What technology is he using. Is that technology is making him a robot or making him a better human being? If parents show interest, discuss this on dinner table. Ask them about latest technologies, app, they will think that parents can help them with this," he said.

The prime minister said technology should lead to expansion of the mind and be seen as a means to innovate. He advised students to use technology but not to forget the playing field.

He also asked parents not to expect their children to fulfil their unfulfilled dreams. In this programme, Modi speaks to them about studies and examination-related issues.

"I would request parents, do not expect your children to fulfil your unfulfilled dreams. Every child has his or her own potential and strengths... It is important to understand these positives of every child," he said.

He also described the townhall as a "mini-India, a place where we have in our midst the future of India".
