PIMPRI CHINCHWAD: The Bombay high court on Monday directed the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to start the process of construction of a public road and bridge on Mula river, for linking Bopkhel with Khadki, within two weeks.

The lawyer G H Keluskar, who represented PCMC in the high court, said, “When the court asked why the process of construction of the road had not yet started, it was submitted on behalf of the PCMC that the defence department has not granted permission to the civic body to start the process.”

Vijay Bhojane, a spokesperson of PCMC’s BRTS cell, said, “We can start the construction of road and bridge immediately as there is provision in the 2018-19 civic budget.” He added that the estimated cost of the project is Rs45 crore. The final decision will be taken after getting the order copy.
