Man held for snatching woman’s cellphone in Chennai

CHENNAI: The Pondy Bazaar police on Monday arrested a man for snatching the cellphone of a woman here.
C Jayalakshmi of Choolaimedu, works as an assistant in a private hospital at T Nagar. On Saturday evening, she was walking back home when a motorcycle-borne man snatched her cellphone and escaped.
She filed a police complaint. Police recovered CCTV footage and the IMEI number of the phone and began investigating. During a vehicle check, the police saw him and nabbed him after a chase.
The accused has been identified as Prince Arokiaraj, 22 of Pillayar Koil Street in T Nagar. He was a deaf and dumb man, policer said. The police interrogated him with the help of an instructor from a school for children with special needs. Arokiaraj said he was jobless and faced a financial crisis.
