CANSAULIM: Salgaocar Football Club continued their impressive run in the Goa Football Association U-14 League following their commanding 4-0 win over Verna Cultural & Sports Association at Cansaulim ground, on Tuesday.
The young Greens didn’t take long to open the scoring as they scored their first in the 12th minute when Michael Dias played Kenneth Pereira in the rival half and the latter coolly slotted home past the rival keeper, 1-0.
Verna CSA put up a strong fightback, but the strong Salgaocar FC defence made it difficult for them to make any mark in the game. Meanwhile, Salgaocar FC doubled the tally in the 26th minute through Flann Crasto, who capitalised on Rui Noronha’s corner kick which rebounded off a Verna defender and fell into his path and the lad scored from touching distance.
The third came within three minutes, when Ashony Gomes played a perfect cross in the box, which was brilliantly met by Yash Pawar to make it.
Crossing over, Salgaocar FC kept more of possession and rolled the ball across the pitch. They finally scored the fourth goal in the dying minutes of the game when Ashony Gomes connected to Mazaltove Rodrigues cross to make it 4-0.
