HYDERABAD: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday slammed Union MoS (skill development) Ananth Kumar Hegde for his comments on Charminar stating that the monument had been built by Jains. Owaisi also said that the Bharat Ratna for Babasaheb Ambedkar was more out of compulsion.

The minister had said that Charminar was built by the Jains, while addressing a meeting of Hindu Jagaran Vedike (youth wing of Vishwa Hindu Parishad). “If a hand has touched a Hindu girl, then that hand must not exist,’ the minister had said while addressing the gathering.

His remarks did not go well with Hyderabad MP who took a dig, alleging the union minister of instigating people. “The only skill development this minister has done is ask people to chop hands, kill people, etc. Charminar has stood tall as a symbol of Muslim contribution to the Deccan & India. It has seen thousands of Hegdes come & go, it will see another thousand,” tweeted Owaisi.

He also said that historical monument, is a contribution to the country from Muslim community. Addressing a meeting in Maharashtra’s Kalyan, Owaisi said that the Bharat Ratna for Babasaheb Ambedkar was given more out of compulsion indicating how the ruling BJP was trying to woo Dalits. “Out of the Bharat Ratnas given, how many were given to Dalits, adivasis, Muslims, poor, upper caste and Brhamins. Babasaheb was given Bharat Ratna out of compulsion, not form heart,” said Owaisi.
