Eight persons accused in the blast of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Bodh Gaya Temple complex, Bihar, in January last year, travelled to Hyderabad, Chennai and other southern cities and hatched the conspiracy.
The National Investigation Agency, which filed a supplementary charge sheet in the case said that attack was carried out in retaliation to the alleged atrocities committed on the Rohingyas in Myanmar and to prove a point to the the Indian Government.
The NIA said that the accused, who escaped after committing the terror act, were hiding in various locations in and around Bengaluru and other places. “The accused also committed several dacoities in Bengaluru to raise funds for their criminal activities.
The terrorist gang planted three IMDs at Bodh Gaya temple complex, of which one exploded, while two IEDs were recovered by the police on January 19, 2018. However, there were no casualties.
“In furtherance of the conspiracy, the accused contacted and assembled at various places, took hideouts at Jehanabad and Masaurhi, recceed Bodh Gaya temple, procured the explosives and material for fabrication of the IEDs,” the NIA said.
The accused, Jahidul Islam alias Kausar fabricated three IEDs and two hand grenades. CCTV footages of the Bodh Gaya temple complex along with the other evidences collected during the investigation established the accused Adil Sheikh, Dilwar Hossain and Arid Hussain planted the explosives in and around the premises of Bodh Gaya Mahabodhi temple in order to cause loss to public life and property during the visit of spiritual leader Dalai Lama.
