Body of missing child found

The body of a six-year-old girl, who had gone missing on Saturday, was found stuffed in a jute bag in Outer North Delhi’s Samaypur Badli on Sunday morning. The police have not ruled out sexual assault.

Police said they received a PCR call around 6 a.m. regarding a body found dumped on roadside in Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar. A police team rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

No injury marks

“The body has no visible injury marks. It has been preserved in the mortuary and an autopsy will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death and to find out if she was sexually assaulted,” said a senior police officer.

The officer added that the girl was kidnapped and murdered. A few suspects have been detained for interrogation, he said.

The girl was reported missing since Saturday evening after she went to play with other kids. The family searched for her, but she remained untraceable following which they filed a missing complaint late on January 26. After the body was found, parents of the missing girl were contacted and they identified the body, said the police.

“We are probing from all angles ,” added the officer.
