Rupee up 7 paise at 71.10 vs dollar

NEW DELHI: The rupee on Monday inched up 7 paise to 71.10 against the dollar amid selling of the greenback.

The rupee Friday weakened by 10 paise to close at 71.17.

Domestic equities were subdued, with Sensex and Nifty falling close to 0.5 per cent.

Last week, the Indian currency registered a marginal gain of 2 paise.

Moody's Investors Service on Friday had said the steps announced by the government to aid MSMEs and the measures being planned to support farmers will increase the risk of fiscal slippage and push deficit to 3.4 per cent of GDP in the current financial year.

The BSE benchmark Sensex on Monday gave up initial gains and turned red. The NSE Nifty to lay low.
