Share market update: BSE Telecom index dips; Vodafone Idea slumps nearly 7%

NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading with losses in Monday's afternoon session.

Shares of Vindhya Telelinks (down 8.09 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (down 7.13 per cent), Tejas Networks (down 6.93 per cent) and Vodafone Idea (down 6.71 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

GTL Infrastructure (down 4.35 per cent), Aksh Optifibre (down 4.09 per cent) and ITI (down 3.40 per cent) too were trading in the red.

The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.89 per cent down at 970.56 around 12:48 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 102.25 points at 10,678.30 while the BSE Sensex was down 318.03 points at 35,707.51.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 12 were trading in the green, while 38 were in the red.

Shares of Dish TV India, Zee Entertainment, Adani Power, Reliance Communications, JP Associates, YES Bank, Suzlon Energy, DHFL, Vodafone Idea, Ashok Leyland, Tata Power, Adani Enterprises, L&T Fin Holding, JSPL, Reliance Power and GMR Infra were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
