10 cops suspected of involvement in drug racket
Viraj Deshpande | TNN | Jan 29, 2019, 03:06 ISTNagpur: Crime branch DCP Sambhaji Kadam on Monday said a ‘secret’ report will be sent to CP office regarding suspected involvement of 10 policemen, including some PSIs, from different police station in the racket of peddling drug ‘mephedrone’, popularly known as MD.
Kadam told reporters involvement of cops in the drug racket came to fore after the arrest of mastermind and notorious drug runner Feroze Khan alias Abu. Anti-Narcotics Cell of city crime branch had arrested Abu earlier this month when two of his accomplices Amir Khan and Mohd Waqar spilled beans about his involvement.
Sources claimed some cops were also involved in consumption of the MD. Abu is currently in magisterial custody. Sources said that police are yet to act against Mujaid and Sajid, also learnt to be MD peddlers. Abu is one of the most notorious goons in city with around 20 offences registered against him. He operates from Mota Tajbagh area.
During investigation, crime branch had found several mobile number of policemen with Abu and his accomplices. Crime branch then decided to send the report to CP for further enquiry.
