Thane: Man beats wife with bat for dance in son’s school

KALYAN: A 30-year-old man from Dombivli has been booked for allegedly assaulting his wife with a cricket bat after she took part in a dance during a cultural event at their son’s school.
On January 19, when the woman, Alpa Kalokhe (25), got home from the function, her husband started abusing her for taking part in the dance. A few days earlier, they had quarrelled after Alpa had said she wanted to take part in the event. Sunil did not want her to take part.
Last week, during the fight resumed as Alpa had defied Sunil. During their argument, he took a cricket bat and assaulted Alpa who suffered serious injuries to the head, hands and legs.
The police said Sunil had assaulted Alpa in the past. He has been booked, said senior police inspector Rajendra Mungekar.
