Mysuru: In a bid to help more students, particularly those from the vulnerable and underprivileged sections of society, crack competitive examinations, which more often than not appear very intimidating, the Mysuru district employment exchange has decided to conduct free coaching classes for them at its office at the Government ITI Campus in NR Mohalla. While the employment exchange has, for some time now, provided free coaching for students to tackle the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) exam, as and when the state government called for applications to these posts, the department has now decided to extend free coaching to help aspirants in the district improve their chances even in national level competitive examinations such as Staff Selection Commission, probationary officers’ exams for banks, et al.
Besides improving their capabilities in quantitative and analytical aptitude, essential to achieving a good rank in the exams, trainers employed by the employment exchange office will provide lessons on personality development. Also, students will be given lessons in English, which the officials believe will help boost confidence of candidates while facing the interview. In the Udyoga Mela held in the city on Thursday witnessed the participation of human resource representatives of various companies. Officials have decided to invite some of them to conduct a programme, ‘How to face interviews’.
Assistant director of the employment exchange office, Mysuru Rani said that the agency was looking to increase the scope of their training classes. “We are keen to conduct coaching classes for more examinations in the days to come. We have already provided training for exams such as TET, besides imparting lessons in computer science for free. We want to offer students free coaching to crack Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) and IAS examinations. These classes are open to all, regardless of caste, creed and religion, Rani told TOI.
J Dileepa, a second year BA student at Maharaja’s College, is among the many who have benefitted from free classes provided by the employment exchange office. “I learnt a lot in the 45-day computer course. My only request to those planning these courses is that the lessons not be restricted to the basics, but equip students with in-depth knowledge since many of them cannot afford to pay for computer courses, which are very expensive,” Dileepa said.
Vocational classes for high school and PU students
Meanwhile, the employment exchange office has also arranged to provide vocational guidance to high school and pre-university students. These classes are to help those keen on join the Indian armed forces. Interested candidates can call: 0821-2489972 for more information.
