Mangaluru Customs Commissionerate surpasses revenue target

The Customs Commissionerate, Mangaluru, has surpassed the revenue collection target for the current financial year by netting ₹2,791 crore till December-end against the target of ₹2,485 crore, according to Imamuddin Ahmed, Additional Commissioner, Customs, Mangaluru.

At the International Customs Day celebration here on Friday, he said Customs officials had detected 101 anti-smuggling cases involving ₹11.417 crores so far in this financial year. The cases detected pertained to smuggling of gold, cigarettes, foreign currency, cannabis, and narcotic substances, etc.

He said the commissionerate had prioritised in working with other agencies at the border.

The department has introduced single-window interface for facilitating trade for ensuring ease of doing business. Under this project, importers electronically lodge their customs clearance documents at a single point only with the Customs. The E-SANCHIT facility is one of the key initiative to facilitate online clearance at a single point that allows a trader to submit all supporting documents for clearance of consignments electronically with digital signature.

Awards

Adani Wilmar Ltd. was conferred the award for top revenue contributor, M.K. Agrotech Ltd was awarded for substantial growth in revenue contribution; Mangalore Refineries & Petrochemicals Ltd. was awarded for the highest export performance, KIOCL was awarded for second highest in exports, and Olam Agro India Ltd. was awarded for substantial growth in exports.

Commendation certificates were also distributed to outstanding officers at various levels for their contribution to respective areas of the commissionerate, a release stated.
