Liam Hemsworth is a happily married man.
The 29-year-old actor was honored at the G’Day USA Black Tie Gala on Saturday, and he made sure to give an extra special thanks to his new wife Miley Cyrus, who was in the crowd cheering him on, as he accepted the excellence in film award.
“Thank you to my beautiful wife,” Hemsworth said near the end of his speech, prompting the audience to burst into loud applause.
“You are a sweet, sweet angel. You’re great, you’re great,” he continued, after which Cyrus could be heard shouting from her seat, “More about me!”
He playfully added, “Yeah, I’ll tell you later.”
Throughout the evening, which was the pair’s public debut as husband and wife, the couple was also seen getting cozy at their table.

Cyrus, 26, shared her own loving tribute to Hemsworth on her Instagram account, posting a photo of the couple smiling together at the black tie gala.
“Date night,” she wrote alongside the sweet photo, adding a red heart emoji. “OUT and ready to party with the MR.”
The “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” singer went on to post a sultry solo snap, as she showed off her plunging black ensemble for the evening.
As for whether Hemsworth and Cyrus —who met on set of The Last Song in 2008 — will ever work together again, Hemsworth told reporters, “Maybe someday. Yeah, hopefully. I don’t know.”
Earlier this month it was Cyrus’ turn to gush over how much Hemsworth means to her, as the actor celebrated his 29th birthday on Jan. 13.
“HBD to my #1 … When we met you were 19, Today, you are 29,” she began the message, before sharing some of her “favorite things about my favorite dude.”
“I love laying in bed late at night looking for new recipes,” Cyrus wrote. “Only going to sleep so we can wake up and make breakfast together while having a hot cup of coffee. (also as hot as you are 😻) I love those little lines around your eyes when you laugh or look into the sun… I love the way we speak in our own language. Sometimes with just a look.”
The letter ended: “I’m proud of the person you have become and look forward to all the good we will contribute ToGeThEr in the future . You and Me baby ….. let’s take this dark place head on and shine thru with the light of L.O.V.E. Thank you for giving me that happiest days of my life. Yours Truly , M.”

Cyrus and Hemsworth tied the knot in an intimate, secret ceremony at the singer’s home in Franklin, Tennessee, on Dec. 23.
Cyrus posted sweet photos from the wedding ceremony in December, including one of her and Hemsworth embracing in a floor-length wedding gown and a black tux.
Their wedding day was absolutely “perfect,” a source previously told PEOPLE. “They always wanted a small, private celebration with family and close friends and that’s what they got. Miley seems ecstatic.”
