Married just five days ago, she was visiting her family

A 28-year-old woman, who had got married barely five days ago, was found dead in the bathroom of her parents’ house in Kalasiguda of Secunderabad here on Saturday morning.

Manisha Pandey was electrocuted in the bathroom after coming into contact with an electric immersion heater, police said. She had got married to Krishna Sharma of Nampally on January 22.

Mahankali inspector V. Jayapal Reddy said the incident took place around 10.30 a.m. on Saturday. “We suspect she took out the immersion rod from the bucket and forgot to switch it off. As shw lifted the water-filled bucket, she came in contact with the rod hanging on the wall and received critical burn injuries,” he said.

After hearing screams from the bathroom, her family members broke open the door and rushed her to the hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

Bust vandalised

A day after Republic Day, the bust of B.R. Ambedkar was broken by a miscreant in Rampally village of Keesara here on Sunday.

The culprit was identified as Nenavath Chandya (64) of the village. He is the same person who had damaged the bust of freedom fighter Chandrasekhar Azad and was arrested after village revenue officer Karravula Sriramulu lodged a complaint.

The incident took place around 7.15 a.m, following which SC organisations in the village staged a protest.
