Health sector will be accorded priority in the ensuing budget: Gangula Kamalakar

Karimnagar legislator Gangula Kamalakar said the State government was taking some harsh decisions to streamline the functioning of private hospitals.

Participating as chief guest at the fourth annual conference of Telangana Hospitals and Nursing Associations (THANA) here on Sunday, he said the TRS government was successful in bringing back patients to government hospitals in the State by providing better services.

Mr. Kamalakar said that the government was planning to accord priority to health sector in the ensuing budget and added that a plan was being considered to utilise the services of private doctors in government hospitals.

Reiterating that the State government was not against private doctors, he said they would support a special ordinance to protect private hospitals from attacks by hooligans and others.

Expressing concern over low turnout at the conference, doctor-turned-legislator from Jagtial M. Sanjay Kumar stressed on the need for unity among doctors to find solutions to the problems faced by the health sector.
