What does it take for an A-lister to get red carpet ready? A village of glam gods, which is something stars have become brutally honest about on social media.
Celebs enlist a team of the best of the best fashion stylists, makeup artists, manicurists, hairstylists and estheticians to get them primped and polished before making their grand entrance at an awards show. And lucky for us, plenty of the nominees and their pros share a behind-the-scenes look at how they’re preparing for the 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Check out how some of our favorites like Constance Wu, Rachel Brosnahan and more are getting ready below.
Constance Wu
The Crazy Rich Asians star spent the night before the SAG Awards getting a glow-enhancing facial from celeb-loved esthetician Joanna Vargas. “This lighting is horrendous but I got that @jvskincare glow so 💅🏼,” she captioned a selfie.
- The official pre-show, People, Entertainment Weekly and TNT Red Carpet Live: 25th Screen Actors Guild Awards, will livestream beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. PT on PEOPLE.com, EW.com, tntdrama.com/sag-awards and sagawards.org, in addition to being broadcast live in Times Square.
Rachel Brosnahan
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel actress also popped by Vargas’ spa to prep her skin before the red carpet. “Thanks to this skin saving queen @joannavargasnyc for the pre @sagawards glow,” she wrote.
Mandy Moore
Getting ready for the red carpet is more play than work for the This Is Us star, because Mandy’s BFFs with her hairstylist Ashley Streicher and makeup artist Kindra Mann! Here, the actress sits back as she gets her skin prepped by Mann and her wet hair brushed out by Streicher with a Tangle Teezer hair brush.
After brushing it out, Streicher snipped off some of the actress’ extensions before styling her hair.
Laverne Cox
Blasting good music (in this case, electronic artist Saro’s hit “Please”) is a key component during Laverne Cox’s glam sessions before a big red carpet appearance.
Stephanie Shepherd
Like her former boss Kim Kardashian West (she was her longtime assistant) Stephanie knows there’s never a bad time to pose for a photo with minimal clothing — including while she gets ready for the SAGs. The influencer kicked back snacking on chips, salsa and guac wearing only boob covers as she got her makeup done.
Glenn Close
The Wife actress and SAG Award nominee paused for a quick photo with her fabulous glam squad — hairstylist Brant Mayfield, makeup artist Kai and manicurist Chi — as a very “excited” Close got ready for the show.
Sophia Bush
The actress turned to esthetician Sonya Dakar to give her an LED facial to minimize her rosacea before SAG Awards weekend.
