A woman has been charged with grievous bodily harm after a man was stabbed just below the eye with a knife at North Rockhampton.

Police said a woman and a man who were known to each other were arguing at a Kirkellen Street home about 7.10pm on Saturday when the man was stabbed.

The 61-year-old Berserker man was treated on scene and taken to Rockhampton Hospital in a serious but stable condition for further treatment.

The woman fled the scene but was found a short time later by police.

A 42-year-old Berserker woman has been denied police bail and is due to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
