Swine flu kills one more, toll touches five
TNN | Jan 28, 2019, 04:06 ISTVadodara: A 54-year-old man from Karjan town of Vadodara district succumbed to swine flu in the city on Sunday afternoon taking the total death toll due to H1N1 virus to five from beginning of this year.
The patient was undergoing treatment at a private hospital on Sun Pharma-Kalali Road where he passed away.
According to officials of the health department, from the beginning of this year, a total of five patients have succumbed to swine flu of which four were residing within the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) limits while the patient who died on Sunday hailed from the rural area of the district.
On Sunday, samples of five patients including three female and two male also tested positive of H1N1 virus. The patients who have tested positive includes a 66-year-old female resident of Old Padra Road, a 36-year-old male from Sun Pharma Road, a 90-year-old female resident of Pathargate area in the old city, a 60-year-old male resident of Manjalpur and a 52-year-old female resident of Pratapnagar area of the city.
Since January 1, total of 40 H1N1 positive cases have been reported within areas falling under VMC limits. Of these, 16 patients have been cured, 20 patients are undergoing treatment while four have died. In Vadodara rural, total of nine positive cases have been reported of which eight have been cured while one has died.
